In a bold stride towards rebuilding war-torn communities and boosting public welfare, the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has delivered a state-of-the-art solar-powered borehole to Fulatari Community in Monguno, Borno State.
Commissioned by MNJTF Force Commander, Major General Godwin Mutkut, the project features a 10-cubic-meter tank, advanced water treatment technology, and a high-voltage pump — all powered by solar energy. This lifeline, made possible through support from the European Union and Defence Council International (DCI), promises clean, reliable water for thousands of residents.
“Clean water is life,” declared Major General Mutkut at the commissioning, urging locals to guard the facility with care as a gateway to future development.
Sector 3 Commander, Major General Mohammed Babayo, emphasized the borehole’s role in stabilizing Monguno and aiding the return of displaced persons. Mr. Dennis Tavernier of DCI described the facility’s cutting-edge features, from micro filters to automated dispensers, showcasing a leap in rural water technology.
In heartfelt appreciation, Monguno LG Chairman, Alhaji Liman Kala, hailed the MNJTF’s unwavering commitment to the people’s welfare.
The event, attended by military top brass, local leaders, and international partners, marks a major milestone in the region’s recovery — where clean water now flows, so too does hope.
