The Bauchi State Police Command has induced a new technological investigative techniques to successfully apprehend a suspected habitual criminal,a 31-year-old Kabiru Bala of Darazo Local Government Area of the State. Kabiru was accused of stealing N5mn.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) told reporters in Bauchi Tuesday.
He said one Dr. Auwal Abdullahi from Gombe State filed a complaint facilitating the arrest.
The police command’s prompt response and the implementation of technology-driven investigative techniques played crucial roles in this operation.”
He said “Dr. Abdullahi reported that on July 20, 2025, at about 0830hours, he parked his Peugeot 307 vehicle, bearing registration number ABJ-982NC, at Al-Umma village lodge, where he subsequently booked a room. The following morning, he discovered that the vehicle’s windows had been forcibly broken and several possessions had been stolen, including:
– Five Million Naira (N5,000,000) in cash
– One touchscreen laptop
– One Tecno Smart 17 model phone”
Wakil said “Upon receipt of the report, the Bauchi State Police Command launched an immediate investigation, prompting the suspect’s apprehension. During the course of interrogation, the suspect admitted to the allegations and provided comprehensive details regarding his criminal activities, which included vandalisation of armoured cables in various locations such as Alkaleri, Ningi, Darazo (Kari and Lanzai), and Bauchi metropolis. He disclosed that he sold the stolen armoured cables based on weight, at a rate of Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000) per kilogram. The most recent transaction involved six kilograms, yielding Sixty Thousand Naira to a buyer. He further indicated that he had engaged in criminal activities for nearly seven years and had been apprehended on eight separate occasions, serving corresponding jail terms. Moreover, he confessed to having vandalised an unquantified quantity of armoured cables in the locations above, as well as accomplices and receivers involved in his activities”.
He said “The suspect was found in possession of the following stolen items, One touchscreen laptop,One Tecno Smart 17 model phone”
PPRO said “The investigation is ongoing and Efforts are intensifying to identify and apprehend the remaining accomplices and receivers”
He said “The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Police Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu has directed that the suspect be formally charged to court for the established offences upon completing the investigation”.
