In a powerful demonstration of humanitarian leadership and commitment to inclusive education, the Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Foundation has extended life-changing educational support to orphaned and underprivileged children in Borno State, one of Nigeria’s most conflict-affected regions.
Through a targeted education intervention, the Foundation sponsored twelve orphaned students at Ibra Foundation School, Miringa, located in Biu Local Government Area, covering their full school fees for one academic year. Beyond tuition support, the intervention provided each beneficiary with complete school uniforms, writing materials, school bags, and footwear, ensuring that the children are fully equipped to learn with dignity and confidence.
The Proprietor of Ibra Foundation School, Malam Ibrahim Abubakar, described the intervention as timely, impactful, and deeply transformative for both the students and their families.
“This support has lifted a heavy burden from vulnerable families and restored hope to children who were at risk of dropping out of school. Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, through his Foundation, has not only paid school fees but has invested in the future of these children,” he stated.
Importantly, the beneficiaries were drawn from the Nursery, Primary, and Secondary sections of the school, reflecting the Foundation’s inclusive approach to education and its recognition that sustained learning at every stage is critical to long-term human development.
Malam Ibrahim further commended the Foundation’s intervention as a reflection of compassion, vision, and social responsibility, while offering prayers for continued impact:
“We sincerely appreciate Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo for this noble act. May Almighty Allah reward him abundantly and raise more leaders with similar commitment to the education of vulnerable children.”
Echoing this sentiment, the Principal of the school, Mr. Jibrin A. Jibrin, speaking on behalf of the management, staff, and students, expressed profound gratitude to the Foundation.
“This intervention has made a remarkable difference in the lives of these children. It has given them a renewed sense of belonging, motivation, and hope for a brighter future. We are deeply grateful to the Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Foundation for standing with orphans and underprivileged learners.”
The school management described the initiative as a model humanitarian education intervention, particularly significant in a region where poverty, displacement, and insecurity continue to disrupt access to quality education. They called on other philanthropists, private sector actors, development partners, and civil society organisations to emulate the Foundation’s example by investing in the education of vulnerable children across Nigeria.
