In yet another troubling incident of rural insecurity, suspected kidnappers have abducted the Village Head of Bauda, Mr. Obadiah Iguda, in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The 48-year-old traditional ruler was reportedly seized from his residence around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, when a group of armed men invaded the community and whisked him away to an unknown location.
Sources familiar with the situation told Zagazola Makama that the attackers operated with precision, instilling fear among residents as gunshots rent the air during the late-night raid.
Following the incident, security forces swiftly mobilized to the area and began a manhunt for the perpetrators. A joint task operation is said to be underway involving various security agencies, with a focus on tracking the movement of the kidnappers and securing the safe release of the village head.
“We are not relenting,” a security source told Zagazola Makama. “Our personnel are on ground and working with sister agencies to rescue the victim and bring those behind this act to justice.”
The abduction has sparked fear and outrage across the Kajuru LGA, a region that has witnessed recurrent security challenges in recent years.
As at press time, no group has claimed responsibility, and the kidnappers have yet to make any contact with the family or community.
Authorities are urging residents to remain calm but vigilant, as investigations and operations continue.
