Gun, Grit a Midnight Tip-Off: Police Nab Suspect in Akwa Ibom

Borno State Government

Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested a 38-year-old man, Blessing Ime Abel, over alleged unlawful possession of a firearm, threats to life and suspected illicit substances, following a swift response to a distress report in Ukanafun Local Government Area.

Police sources said the arrest was triggered by a complaint from one Emekpo, who alerted authorities to an alleged case of threatening violence. Acting promptly on the tip-off, officers moved in and apprehended the suspect at Ikot Akpa Ntuen Village.

A search reportedly led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, one live cartridge and substances believed to be illicit drugs. The suspect has since been taken into custody as detectives widen investigations to trace the source of the weapon and determine the full scope of the alleged activities.

Police urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and detection, stressing that community cooperation remains vital to keeping Akwa Ibom safe.

Investigations are ongoing, and the suspect is expected to be charged to court upon conclusion of inquiries.
