A Group, Youths Alliance Coalition Movement in Northern Nigeria has cautioned Nigerians against perpetrators circulating misinformation discrediting
President Bola Tinubu’s successes against insecurity in the country.
This is contained in a statement issued by the group’s Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Yusuf, on Monday in Sokoto.
Yusuf said the group consider it necessary to react on allegations against some notable political leaders in the Northwest including the former Governor of Zamfara State and the present Minister of State Defense, Alhaji Bello Matawalle along with Gov. Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State.
” It is not in our character to respond to such baseless and poorly-scripted allegations by a bandit kingpin.
” However, it is to set the record straight on the criminal, his associates along with the political rationale behind the viral video, Yusuf said.
According to him, the security agencies especially the Department of State Security Service have not done their work which could have led to disqualification of Matawalle while he was being screened by the National Assembly better than Turji and his hidden sponsors.
” The clip, Turji is just playing a script, using politics to destroy good names of many innocent people after his terror reigns in Shinkafi and environs.
” The criminal is fond of making baseless accusations against politicians who were enemies of his sponsors aimed at poisoning the minds of people in the northern parts of Nigeria against good efforts of President Tinubu, ” Yusuf said.
According to him, the video was intended to destroy Tinubu’s legacy on the fight against insecurity in the North-West so that they can capitalize on it for political gains.
” The ongoing military operations in the North-West is weakening bandits activities, destroyed their enclaves while banditry promoters are unhappy.
” Intensified military onslaught have destroyed criminal elements in their enclaves along Shinkafi, Sabon Birni, Isa, Zurmi, Jibia and many other areas surrounding Katsina, Kaduna, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi and Niger States.
” The allegations have not been only against Matawalle, he also accused former Governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Ahmed Yerima and late Emir of Zurmi
that they sponsored bandits.
” You can imagine a heartless bandit like Bello Turji who set vehicle on fire with several persons including a pregnant woman talking about sympathy. Those he killed their loved ones, those he destroyed their livelihood are still alive today to judge him.
” It’s pertinent for the Security agencies to invites the social media user who is very closed and ally to Zamfara state government that have recorded and shared the interview with Bello Turji for clarification of sponsorship. ” he added.
The Chairman further said majority of those calling on President Tinubu to replace Matawalle as Minister on the alleged shared video clip were unpatriotic Nigerians and agents of political enemies echoing discord as done during former President Goodluck Jonathan regime.
He called on authorities to ensure appropriate actions against the perpetrators, stressing that President Tinubu’s led federal government’s committment on securing Nigeria have yealded positive impacts more than previous periods.
