The All Progresscive Congress (APC) Youths Mobilization Vanguards, a political support group, has advised Gov. Dauda Lawan on utterances over military operations in the state.
Speaking to the newsmen on Wednesday in Sokoto, the group Chairman, Alhaji Ashiru Tukur, lamented on Lawal’s discussion judgments and presentations during a television interview.
Tukur explained that in recognition of his position of responsibility to secure the lives and property of Zamfara citizens the expressions were not suitable.
According to him, the statements are spirit-damping comments against the military hierarchy and poor commitment to ending banditry challenges in the state.
” In spite of having routine security briefings, his criticism is improper for leader governing the state.
” Military deserves support in the ongoing operations in the state and Northwest.
” His assertion of not having control over the military and other security apparatuses in the state doesn’t portrayed his committement.
” Zamfara state had set up a local security outfit to solved the problem, they should focus on supporting conventional security agencies on ending real banditry, who have brought the state to its knees under his watch, ” Tukur said.
He added that the group deem it fit to set the record straight especially on the priceless sacrifices the Nigerian military and other security agencies involved in tackling insecurity in Zamfara are making.
” The recent attacks on people in Maradun, Tsafe, Zurmi, and other villages in Zamfara have nothing to do with the minister of state defence, Alhaji Bello Matawalle, because he is instrumental to the improved military presence and operations we see in the state and other neighboring states respectively.
The group leader advise the state government to cooperate and synergize with the security personnel to address the escalating attacks.
” We urged Gov Lawal not to relent on collaborating with the Federal Government through Defence headquarters to address the security challenges, building bridges with their predecessors, so they can concentrate on meaningful developmental projects in their state.
” Governor’s comments against the hierarchy of the Nigerian military and the defence team on national television is not expected in the present situation,
” Tukur added.
