— Gwagware Foundation Empowers 1,000 Small-Scale Business Women
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots development with the commissioning of the newly completed 6.5km rural feeder road in Charanchi, the reconstruction of the 2.5km Doka road, and the flag-off of multi-million-naira empowerment items for residents.
Governor Radda made this known today, describing the series of projects as “a practical demonstration of our resolve to open up rural communities and give our people easier access to economic opportunities.”
The Governor also acknowledged the Gwagware Foundation for empowering 1,000 small-scale business women in Charanchi, describing the gesture as “a strong support to our drive to strengthen local businesses and improve household income.”
Governor Radda said the combined initiatives reflect the broader vision of his government to expand opportunities for rural communities, boost economic activities, and ensure that empowerment programmes directly reach citizens at the grassroots.
“We are very clear about our mission,” he said. “Every project we commission must translate into real, measurable impact on the daily lives of our people.”
He thanked the Foundation for its focus on women, noting that empowering women has a direct impact on family stability and community progress.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the support to grow their businesses and improve their livelihoods.
The Governor also commended the Local Government Chairman for implementing impactful projects and delivering empowerment items that touch the lives of residents, adding that financial autonomy at the local government level was introduced to enable communities benefit more from interventions such as the Community Development Project (CDP).
Earlier in the visit, Governor Radda paid a courtesy visit to District Heads of Charanchi, where he was received by the Sarkin Shanun Katsina, Alhaji Abashe Abdulkadir. Also in attendance were the Sarkin Kurayen Katsina and the representative of the District Head of Radda, Gwagwaren Katsina.
The Governor was warmly received in an atmosphere of joy and unity, marking another major stop in his engagement across the 34 Local Government Areas of Katsina State.
He told the gathering that the visit was to greet the district heads, strengthen cooperation, and reflect on the successes achieved so far.
According to him, “Our traditional institutions remain strong partners in progress. Their cooperation has helped us drive development across communities.”
Governor Radda also highlighted the major projects delivered in Charanchi.
These include the upgrade of the Charanchi facility to a full General Hospital, the establishment of the Special Smart School in Radda—one of only three in the state—the construction of the Yana–Ganuwa–Radda road, the Charanchi modern stadium, and water projects across Radda, Charanchi, and Kuraye.
He reassured traditional rulers that his administration has never taken any decision that undermines their institutions.
He reminded the people that the government increased salaries of District Heads, Village Heads, and Ward Heads, and introduced allowances for Imams and Mu’azzins because of their important roles in society.
He further explained that the CDP was created to channel development directly through traditional and religious institutions, youth groups, and community organisations.
“There is no ward or polling unit in the state where we have not executed at least one project,” he concluded.
At the stakeholder meeting, Engr. Bala Almu, Chairman of the Charanchi Stakeholders Forum, expressed gratitude on behalf of the community and listed major achievements recorded under the administration.
Earlier, the District Head, Alhaji Abashe Abdulkadir, presented several community requests, including electricity transformers, an ambulance, fencing of Karaye Secondary School, power supply for the maternity ward, a new dam in Karaye, extended rural electrification, and the establishment of a university in the area.
Governor Radda described the visit as a homecoming. He thanked the people of Charanchi for their solid support and prayed for continued peace and development across the state.
Governor Radda was accompanied by the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura; Senator representing Katsina Central, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua; Chief of Staff,Hon Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, Principal Private Secretary to the Governor,Hon Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji, Member representing Batagarawa/Rimi/Charanchi Federal Constituency, Hon. Usman Murtala Banye; Member representing Mashi/Dutsi Federal Constituency, Hon. Salisu Yusuf Majigiri; National APC Legal Adviser, Barrister Murtala Aliyu Kankia.
Also present were the Katsina State APC Chairman, Alhaji Sani JB Daura; members of the Katsina State Executive Council; and other political leaders.
