In a heartfelt statewide broadcast, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum addressed the devastating floods that struck Maiduguri and its environs on Friday, 12th September 2024. With streets, homes, and businesses submerged, Governor Zulum expressed deep empathy for the victims and outlined the state’s response plan.
The Governor announced the formation of a multi-stakeholder committee to assess the full extent of the destruction, while calling on community leaders, NGOs, and wealthy individuals to come together in support of the affected. He emphasized Borno’s resilience, urging collaboration to rebuild and fortify the state against future disasters.
“We stand together in solidarity,” Zulum declared, praising the efforts of the federal government, military, and UN agencies. He called for innovative recovery strategies, pledging that Borno will rise stronger from this tragedy.
