Governor Radda’s Move: Taskforce to Ensure Food Security in Katsina

His Excellency, the Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD has approved a Taskforce (Committee) which would ensure strict compliance with the Food Security (promotion), Order prohibiting the hoarding of food and essential commodities within the state.

The twenty seven member committee is chaired by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Alhaji Jabiru Salisu Abdullahi Tsauri while the rest of the members are as follows:

The terms of reference for the Committee are as follows:

i. Identify food commodity hoarders within the State;

ii. Engage with stakeholders on food prices in the state;

iii. In collaboration with Security Agencies, arrest and prosecute violators of this Order;

iv. Control the buying and transporting of food commodities within and outside the state, including international borders;

v. Do all other things incidental or necessary for the enforcement of the provisions of this Order

The Committee is expected to be inaugurated on Wednesday, 21st February, 2024 at the Council’s Chamber, Government House, Katsina by 11:00am.
