In a proactive move to protect the crops and livelihoods of Katsina farmers, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has officially launched the “Aerial Spraying Exercise Against Quella Birds and Other Pests” ahead of the 2024 farming season.
The ceremony, held at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport in Katsina, highlighted the governor’s commitment to supporting farmers and ensuring a fruitful agricultural season.
Governor Radda expressed gratitude to the federal government for providing support to approximately 50,000 rice farmers in the state, enabling them to enhance their farming activities.
Acknowledging the damages caused by pests like quella birds and locusts, Governor Radda emphasized the importance of the aerial spraying exercise in safeguarding crops and minimizing losses.
He also expressed optimism that the spraying efforts would be sustained to ensure safe and productive farming activities across Katsina.
The provision of chemicals and spraying equipment by the federal government underscores a collaborative effort to boost agricultural productivity and support farmers in Katsina State.
