Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, on Monday joined other state governors at the National Executive Committee meeting of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) held in Lagos.
The conference, themed “The Traditional Institution: The Imperative of its Inclusion in Effective and Efficient Governance in Nigeria,” convened respected royal fathers, policymakers, and senior government functionaries from across the federation.
Discussions centered on enhancing synergy between traditional institutions and government at all levels to improve security, foster national unity, and drive inclusive development. Speakers at the event emphasized the indispensable role of traditional rulers in maintaining peace, promoting social harmony, and supporting grassroots governance.
The session was jointly presided over by the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, and the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, was represented by the Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodinma. Also in attendance were the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, and several other governors including Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Usman Ododo of Kogi, Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, Bassey Otu of Cross River, Monday Okpebholo of Edo, and Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both political leaders and traditional institutions to working hand in hand toward building a more secure, united, and prosperous Nigeria.
