Governor Radda Offers Condolences: Yannasarawa Village Mourns 8 Lives Lost in Bandit Attack

The Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD has paid a condolence visit to ‘Yannasarawa in Faskari Local Government Area over the recent wild attack by bandits which left Eight people dead in the village.

The bandits who laid siege to the village last week, also kidnapped Forty Five persons comprising; Thirty Seven females and Eight males who are mostly in junior secondary school.

Governor Dikko Radda who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the State Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari expressed his deep sorrow and sympathy to the families who lost their loved ones.

The Governor reiterated his commitment to continuing fighting with the undesirable elements until the state is rid of the banditry and other heinous crimes.

After paying the house to house sympathy visit the Secretary to the Government was also conducted round the Eight scrap vehicles, Ten houses and Twelve shops that were also burnt to ashes by the terrorists.

A member of the vigilante group in the village who sought anonymity said that they engaged the bandits when they entered the village around 9:00pm but because they were in numbers and were having sophisticated weapons and ammunition, they (villagers) were forced to retreat.

“Despite our weaknesses we were able to count Seven casualties on the part of the bandits.” He claimed.

On the part of the 45 persons kidnapped, he said that nothing was heard about them, because their abductors did not make any contact, yet.

He then handed over a list containing their names, that of those injured, the deceased and the number of properties destroyed to the representative of the SGS who promised to deliver their message to the Governor on his return.

People of the area appreciated the efforts being made by the governor in the fight against terrorism, further solicited for the deployment of security agents to the village and reconstruction of the only road leading to the village from Daudawa.
