Governor Radda Mourns Solomon Arase: Nigeria Loses Its Best Intelligence Officer

Katsina state government

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has expressed profound grief over the death of former Inspector-General of Police and ex-Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Solomon Ehigiator Arase, who passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2025, at the age of 69.

In a heartfelt tribute, Governor Radda described the late Arase as “the best intelligence officer the Nigerian Police ever produced”, hailing him as a patriot, reformist, and symbol of integrity who dedicated his life to strengthening law enforcement and upholding the rule of law.

“From his days at the Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Bureau to his tenure as IGP and later as Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Arase carried the weight of national duty with uncommon wisdom and dignity,” Radda said.

The Governor noted that Arase’s service to Nigeria transcended the police uniform, as he continued to shape security reforms, peacebuilding, and legal practice even after retirement, mentoring future leaders in public service.

“His passing is not just a personal loss to his family and the police community, but to Nigeria as a whole. We have lost a rare gem whose courage, intellect, and commitment to justice will never be forgotten,” Radda lamented.

On behalf of the Government and people of Katsina State, the Governor extended condolences to the Arase family, the Nigeria Police Force, the Police Service Commission, and all Nigerians mourning the fallen statesman.

“May his legacy of service to country and humanity continue to inspire us all,” he prayed.
