Governor Radda Hosts Historic SDGs Convergence in Katsina

Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD CON, the Executive Governor of Katsina State, recently hosted the inaugural Subnational Convergence on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Nigeria.

This significant event, known as the Katsina Impact Convergence, underscores the state’s commitment to the United Nations’ SDGs.

Governor Radda emphasized his dedication to fostering a prosperous, equitable, and environmentally sustainable future for Katsina State.

“The SDGs provide a comprehensive roadmap for holistic and inclusive development,” he stated.

“By hosting this convergence, we are not only reaffirming our commitment to these goals but also fostering collaboration and innovation to drive impactful change across our state.

“According to a press release from Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Governor Radda highlighted the launch of initiatives such as the N5 Billion SME Growth Fund and the Dikko BDS Corp, which are aimed at empowering local businesses and promoting economic growth in line with SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).

The Katsina Impact Convergence was organized by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals and Development Partners, with funding from the World Bank Agile Projects.

It sets a new standard for subnational engagement with the SDGs in Nigeria.

The event brought together stakeholders from various sectors, including government officials, private sector representatives, and community leaders.

The sessions and presentations focused on critical areas such as poverty alleviation, education, healthcare, gender equality, and climate action.
