Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has received an award of excellence for his outstanding contributions to youth development and sports in Nigeria.
The award was presented by the organizing committee of the Gusau/Ahlan Pre-season Tournament held in Nassarawa State on August 15, 2025.
Abubakar Sani, Director General of Dikko Sports Movement, received the award on behalf of Governor Radda at the ceremony.
The organisers commended Governor Radda’s meritorious contributions to sports development and his efforts in promoting football as a tool for building the future.
They particularly praised the Governor foresight in hosting the National U20 male team for a training camp in preparation for the 2025 AFCON in Egypt where they won the bronze medal .
Alhaji Sabo Abdullahi Dutse, Jigawa State Football Association Chairman, said the governor’s contributions to sports made it compulsory for the organisation to confer the award on him.
“Your dedication to sports development has not gone unnoticed, and we look forward to continuing to work together to promote football in Nigeria,” Dutse stated.
The event also honoured the Governor of Nassarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule. The Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau also graced the occasion as guest of honour.
The fourth edition of the tournament recognised Radda’s dedication to nurturing sporting excellence in Katsina State and Nigeria.
