Governor Radda Hails Ahmed Idris Zakari’s Promotion in NDLEA

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has expressed warm congratulations to Ahmed Idris Zakari following his promotion to the rank of Assistant Commander General of Narcotics in the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Governor Radda described the elevation as a well-earned recognition of Zakari’s professionalism, discipline, and sustained commitment to the national fight against drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking, noting that the achievement reflects positively on Katsina State.

Until his recent advancement, Zakari served as Commander and Chairman of the NDLEA Special Monitoring Unit, where he was actively involved in high-level strategic assignments and oversight responsibilities that strengthened institutional effectiveness.

Zakari, who hails from Katsina Local Government Area, is academically grounded in security and intelligence studies. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Intelligence and Security Studies, a Master’s degree in Intelligence and Forensic Investigation, and an MBA in Strategic Operations. His academic training spans Novena University, Ogume, Delta State, and Lagos State University. In addition, he has participated in several professional and capacity-building courses within and outside Nigeria, further sharpening his expertise in narcotics control, security intelligence, and leadership.

Reacting to the promotion, Governor Radda said the development is a source of pride for the state and a powerful example of how dedication and integrity can lead to national recognition.

“This promotion underscores the value of hard work, loyalty, and patriotism. Ahmed Idris Zakari has consistently shown excellence in service, and his advancement is an encouragement to young people across Katsina State to pursue their goals with discipline and determination,” the Governor stated.

Governor Radda expressed confidence that Zakari would bring the same commitment and professionalism to his new role, particularly in supporting ongoing national efforts to curb drug-related crimes and protect communities.

He further urged the senior officer to regard the promotion as a greater call to service, reminding him to remain a good representative of Katsina State at the national level.

On behalf of the Government and people of Katsina State, Governor Radda congratulated Ahmed Idris Zakari and wished him continued success and fulfillment in his new assignment.
