Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has expressed commitment to cultural preservation and archeological treasures.
The Governor made this known following the return of artifacts of Durbi Takusheyi handed over by the Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa, in Lagos State.
Governor Radda noted that the return of Durbi Takusheyi to Katsina is a source of pride for the State. Adding the new development is an assurance that the administration vision for cultural promotion is yielding positive results.
At the handover ceremony, Dr. Kabir Ali Masanawa, Executive Director of the Katsina State History and Culture Bureau and leader of the Katsina delegation, emphasized the historical significance of the moment.
“This is a historic achievement. These artifacts are a testament to the advanced civilization of our ancestors—far more sophisticated than history has often portrayed. We will continue to preserve our past to inspire future generations,” Dr. Masanawa stated.
Dr. Masanawa furthered stressed, “The Governor’s strategic focus on cultural restoration has positioned Katsina State as a model for heritage preservation in Nigeria, with the Durbi Takusheyi artifacts representing a crowning achievement in these efforts.”
Furthermore, the occasion recognized the tireless contributions of cultural advocate Musa Umar Yar’Adua instrumental role in facilitating the artifacts’ return through years of dedicated work.
To establish the state as a destination for cultural tourism and historical education, Governor Radda’s administration is planning to showcase these recovered treasures through an international exhibition in Katsina.
Joining the delegation at the event were Abiola Abdulkareem, Special Assistant to the Honourable Minister; Mallam Abdullahi Bawa, Curator of the Katsina State Museum; and Hauwa Bello Said, Technical Assistant on Heritage and Culture Preservation to the Executive Director of the Katsina State History and Culture Bureau.
