The Executive Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has congratulated Dr. Umar Usman Machika on his recent appointment by the United Nations as Goodwill Ambassador and Humanitarian Officer.
In a formal letter dated 14th July 2025 and signed by the UN Secretary-General, Mr. António Guterres, Dr. Machika was officially confirmed in his new role as a UN Officer representing Nigeria.
Governor Radda described the appointment as a great source of pride for Katsina State and the entire nation, noting that it reflects Dr. Machika outstanding qualities and the trust placed in him by the international community.
The Governor also extended his congratulations to Dr. Machika on his separate appointment as Honorary Ambassador of the Southern Cherokee Nation and the Red Fire People (SCNRFP) to Nigeria. The appointment letter, signed by H.E. Chief Gees-Due Oo-Neh-Gah Usti, Prime Minister of the SCNRFP, tasked him with strengthening ties between the Cherokee Nation and Nigeria while upholding the values of the sovereign nation.
Governor Radda said both international recognitions from the United Nations and the Southern Cherokee Nation are remarkable milestones that highlight Dr. Machika lifelong commitment to humanitarian service and global cooperation.
He urged Dr. Machika to regard the roles not only as an honour but also as a call to service, reminding him to remain a worthy ambassador of Katsina State and Nigeria.
The Governor assured him of the prayers and support of the government and people of Katsina State, and wished him success in his new responsibilities.
“On behalf of the Government and the good people of Katsina State, I extend our congratulations to Dr. Umar Usman Machika. and we are confident he will excel in advancing humanitarian and development goals,” Governor Radda said.
