Katsina State Government has secured a collaborative research partnership with Redwire Marketing Consulting to conduct Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) study across all 34 Local Government Areas of the state.
The State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda approved the release of funds to support the critical research initiative, which will provide insights into the nature and intensity of poverty challenges facing the state.
The State Statistician General, Prof. Saifullahi Sani Ibrahim confirmed that the research partnership represents exceptional value for Katsina State, as Redwire Consulting will bear the entire cost of the study except for refreshments and venue provisions for training enumerators.
“We have secured this collaborative research on poverty in Katsina State with minimal financial burden on the government. His Excellency has made funds available in the Bureau to cover training expenses, while our partners handle all other costs,” the Statistician General stated.
The comprehensive study will deploy 74 trained data personnel across the state, including field agents, supervisors, and data quality monitors, to ensure accurate and reliable data collection from June 13-30, 2025.
“The outcome of this survey will provide crucial insights into the nature and intensity of multidimensional poverty in our state. It will enable the government to identify Local Government Areas contributing more to the pool of poor and vulnerable populations,” Prof. Saifullahi explained.
The research initiative aligns perfectly with Governor Radda’s commitment to evidence-based governance and targeted intervention programs for poverty alleviation across the state.
The study will follow international best practices for poverty measurement, examining multiple dimensions including education, health, and living standards to provide a holistic understanding of poverty conditions in Katsina State.
Training of field personnel commences this week, with comprehensive sessions scheduled for June 11-12, 2025, before the official launch of data collection activities.
The collaborative partnership demonstrates Katsina State’s innovative approach to leveraging private sector expertise for public sector development initiatives.
