Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has promise a total overhaul of the educational sector accross the 44 Local government areas of the state.

The Governor stated this during a grand ceremony to Mark the declaration of State of Emergency on Education held at government House Kano.

He said the decision of declaration the state of emergency on education became necessary with regards to the decay of the quality of education and the infrastructure in the sector.

He said his Administration has commence a total overhaul of the sector which includes both academic and infrastructural development of the sector .

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf noted that in an effort to improve girl child education in the state over seventy luxurious buses have been rehabilitated and assigned to be conveying the girl child to secondary Schools accross the metropolitan local government areas of the state.

“Despite the decay of the sector ,our administration since assumption of office have commence rehabilitation of schools and provision of instructional materials to ensure effective service delivery.”

The Governor noted that his administration have paid the registration fees of all Kano indigines studying at various Higher institutions of learning accross the Nation.

” We’ve set aside over 300 hundred million to be disburse to teachers as soft loan ,geared towards boosting their morale for effective service delivery.”

The Governor also announced the approval for the comprehensive renovation of all primary and junior secondary schools in all the 44 Local Government Councils.

The renovation, according to the governor, will include providing students seats, painting, refurbishing toilets and staff offices.

“This exercise will be completed in the next two academic sessions. CRC, Kwankwasiyya, Lafiya Jari, and Kano Pro-PA will be responsible for handling minor repairs while Ministry of Education and SUBEB will shoulder all major repairs through competitive bidding.”

In his remark the leader of Kwankwasiyya Movement Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso reacted to the development during the occasion of the declaration of the State of Emergency on education in Kano State.

He said, “Let me start by congratulating him on this historic day, the day the governor is declaring a State of Emergency on education. For those who are aware that the governor has been working from day one you can see his footprints everywhere across the state.

“Despite the fact that the governor was distracted for about one year. Immediately after election, enemies of the State took him to Court – Tribunal, Appeal Court to Supreme Court. We have seen what happened even when they knew that there is no need to go to any Court or tribunal. Everybody knew that he won his election.

On his part the chairman of the occasion and former governor of Cross Rivers State, Donald Duke doffed hat to Kano State Government for being a face setter as the occasion symbolizes re-birth of education not only in Kano, but in the northern part of the country.

Earlier,the Commissioner for Education Alhaji Umar Doguwa said ,the Governor has approved the payment of NECO ,NBAIS examination fees to over one hundred and eighteen thousand Kano indigines secondary Schools students who are writing their Exams this year.

The ceremony attracted maany dignitaries from different states of the federation and abroad.
