Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of victims of banditry across the state.
On Wednesday the Chairman of the Committee on Victims of Banditry and Internally Displaced Persons Yusuf Ibrahim Safana led a delegation to Katsina Federal Teaching Hospital and Amadi Rimi General Hospital to assess the condition of patients wounded in banditry attacks and to evaluate the level of care being provided by the hospital management.
Speaking during the visit Safana stated that the assessment was in line with Governor Radda’s directive to ensure that victims of armed violence are not only given prompt medical attention but are also treated with dignity and compassion under government care.
“This visit is part of a wider intervention by the administration of Governor Radda to ensure that victims of banditry receive adequate and sustained support. The government is fully responsible for their treatment, and we are here to monitor how that support is being delivered,” he said.
Medical personnel at both hospitals briefed the committee on the status of the victims, ongoing treatments and the collaboration between the government and health institutions in managing the crisis. The committee also interacted with some of the patients and their families who expressed gratitude for the state’s continued support.
It will be recalled that the Katsina State Government has taken full responsibility for the medical expenses of all wounded victims of banditry as part of a broader strategy to cushion the humanitarian impact of insecurity in the state.
Governor Radda’s approach integrates immediate humanitarian response with long term security planning, a model his administration believes is essential for rebuilding public confidence and stabilizing affected communities.
The visit by the committee marks another step in the government’s resolve to close the gap between policy and implementation, particularly in conflict affected areas.
