Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, today visited the 27 Task Force Brigade headquarters in Buni Gari to offer condolences and show support following a recent insurgent attack on the military formation.
Describing the incident as a tragic reminder of the ongoing security challenges, Governor Buni expressed deep sorrow over the resurgence of insurgent activities and praised the bravery of the troops who stood their ground in defense of the nation.
“Their sacrifice will never be forgotten,” the Governor said, while offering heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen heroes. He emphasized that the soldiers lost their lives while courageously protecting their country.
As part of his support, Governor Buni presented N2 million each to the families of the deceased soldiers and N1 million to each of the injured personnel. He also announced that the state government would extend educational support to the children left behind by the fallen officers.
In a further show of solidarity, the Governor donated N50 million to be shared among the troops of the Brigade. Additional items such as food supplies, mattresses, blankets, and other essentials were also delivered to boost the welfare of the soldiers.
Governor Buni reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the state government and its people to backing the military and other security agencies in their mission to restore peace and stability.
He directed security agencies to intensify surveillance and fortify the perimeter around the Brigade to prevent further threats, assuring the military of continued government collaboration and logistical support.
Brigade Commander, General Usman Ahmed, who led Governor Buni on a tour of the facility, expressed gratitude for the Governor’s compassionate gesture and consistent backing of the armed forces.
