Streets were lined with cheering crowds, youth groups held banners with his name, and community leaders expressed overwhelming joy at receiving him.
“This love is not by politics; it’s by action,” said Malam Isa Gombe, a community elder. “Governor Zulum is a man who leads with his heart and serves with his hands. Even though he governs Borno, we in Gombe feel his impact through inspiration and the standard he sets.”

What stands out, however, is his accessibility — he visits IDP camps, inspects roads at night, supervises projects himself, and holds his administration to the highest standard of accountability.
In Gombe, the love shown towards Zulum underscores a growing desire among Nigerians for genuine leadership — one that listens, acts, and leads by example. Youths in particular have found in Zulum a role model, someone who defies the stereotype of aloof governance. His visit sparked spontaneous chants of “Zulum! Zulum! Our hope for Nigeria!” across different parts of the city.
