Global Call for Justice: AU HQ Hosts 2024 Journalist Safety Summit

In 2013, the UN General Assembly Resolution 68/163 established 2 November as the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, following the killing of two Radio France Internationale journalists in Mali. Ten years have passed since the first IDEI commemoration at the European Court of Human Rights, in Strasbourg, France in 2014.

This year marks the 10th Anniversary of this important day and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression and Access to Information of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights in 2004, in Dakar, Senegal.
