The Director General of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall (NAGGW), Alhaji Saleh Abubakar, has lauded Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State for his unwavering dedication to the fight against climate change and environmental degradation.
Speaking during a working visit to the state, Alhaji Abubakar described Governor Radda’s climate policies as bold, timely, and people-centered, especially in addressing desertification and promoting sustainable land use in frontline communities.
He pledged the agency’s full collaboration and support, particularly in building resilience across Daura and surrounding areas prone to the effects of climate change. “Katsina under Governor Radda is showing real leadership in the Sahel region’s green transformation,” the DG stated.
Alhaji Abubakar was warmly received by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Climate Change, Hon. Suleiman Ribadu, who represented the State Climate Change Secretariat and expressed the state’s readiness to deepen collaboration with federal institutions.
As part of his visit, the GGW DG also paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Daura, His Royal Highness Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar, where he emphasized the importance of traditional institutions in driving grassroots awareness and ownership of climate initiatives.
The visit highlights growing federal-state synergy in advancing Nigeria’s Great Green Wall objectives and restoring degraded lands across the northern region.
