General Buratai Leads Lifeline Mission for Borno Flood Victims

In a remarkable display of compassion and commitment to humanitarian service, His Excellency Amb Lt Gen Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Rtd), CFR, has initiated a significant support program for flood victims in Borno State.

Accompanied by family members and notable dignitaries, General Buratai’s visit has brought hope and relief to thousands affected by the recent natural disaster.

On 24th September 2024, General Buratai, alongside his brother Ibrahim Yusufu Buratai, his son Capt Tukur Tukur Buratai Jr., Hon Jafaru Ribadu, and Alhassan Ibn Abubakar Sultan, arrived in Maiduguri to extend a helping hand through the TY Buratai Humanity Care Foundation and the Tukur and Tukur Foundation.

These organizations, led by Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani Sadaukin Garkuwan Keffi and Col Haruna Idris Zaria (Rtd), respectively, organized a free medical outreach and food distribution initiative aimed at alleviating the suffering of flood victims.

Earlier, General Buratai made a personal donation to the Borno State Government Through Southern Borno Union, underscoring his commitment to supporting the affected communities.

His efforts were warmly acknowledged by Borno State Governor, His Excellency Prof Babagana Umara Zulum FNCE, CON, who received General Buratai at the Government House.

Governor Zulum expressed heartfelt appreciation for Buratai’s generous contributions, both to the flood victims and to the state and nation at large.

“This visit marks the beginning of our collective efforts to address the challenges faced by those impacted by the floods,” General Buratai stated, emphasizing the importance of solidarity in times of crisis.

Following his engagement at the Government House, he visited the State Specialist Hospital Maiduguri, where he met with flood victims currently receiving medical care.

The Medical Director, Dr. Baba Shehu Mohammed, lauded General Buratai’s visit, noting that such gestures are crucial for the healing process. He also expressed gratitude for the financial support provided to the patients.

General Buratai’s humanitarian journey continued as he paid a visit to the Shehu of Borno, His Royal Highness Dr. Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Almin El-Kanemi, where he expressed his condolences and solidarity with the traditional ruler and the people of Borno. The Shehu commended General Buratai for his unwavering support and dedication to the welfare of the state’s residents.
