Senior Special Assistant on Security Matters, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd), has congratulated Governor Mai Mala Buni on making history as the first African leader to win the Society of Neuroscientists of Africa (SONA) Award in Marrakesh, Morocco.
On the same day, Buni was also conferred with the title of “Sardaunan Fune” in Nigeria, earning both international acclaim and hometown reverence.
General Abdulsalam hailed the honours as proof of Buni’s “visionary leadership and unmatched commitment” to mental health reforms, which have turned Yobe into a model for post-conflict recovery across Africa.
“Governor Buni’s leadership heals, rebuilds, and inspires. Yobe State and Africa celebrate him,” Abdulsalam declared.
