The long-awaited transformation of the Gashuwa–Dumburi–Masaba corridor has become a reality as the administration of Mai Mala Buni pushes ahead with strategic road construction aimed at opening up rural communities and boosting economic activities across Yobe State.
For years, residents of Gashuwa, Dumburi and Masaba struggled with poor access, especially during the rainy season when travel became nearly impossible. Today, the hum of construction equipment signals a new chapter—one of connectivity, safety and renewed hope.
The road project, initiated under Governor Buni’s people-focused infrastructure agenda, is designed to ease the movement of farm produce to markets, reduce travel time, and strengthen social and economic ties among communities. Traders, farmers and commuters say the development will significantly cut transportation costs and improve access to healthcare, education and security services.
Speaking on the importance of the project,Abdullahi Bego Commissioner of Information of the Yobe state government described the Gashuwa–Dumburi–Masaba road as a critical link that aligns with the administration’s commitment to inclusive development and balanced growth across all zones of the state.
Residents have welcomed the initiative with optimism, praising Governor Buni for translating promises into visible action. Many believe the road will not only enhance daily life but also attract investment and accelerate development in previously underserved areas.
As construction progresses steadily, the Gashuwa–Dumburi–Masaba road stands as another testament to the Buni administration’s resolve to rebuild infrastructure, reconnect communities and drive sustainable development across Yobe State.
