Gajibo Prays for Peace Ahead of Homecoming

The members of Gajibo community of Dikwa Local Government Council who were displaced by insurgency and presently taking refuge in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital held a special prayer session at the Sheikh Gonimi Mosque in Bolori ward, sought divine intervention for sustainable peace, security and stability, if safely return to their ancestral hometown after 10 years of displacement due to the Boko Haram insurgency that lasted for more than a decades.

The special prayer session was led by a popular Islamic cleric, Sheikh Gonimi who stressed the importance of resilience, courage, perseverance, patience, unity, help and loving one another and commitment to prayers at all times in whatever situation as well as adherence to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).

The District Head of Gajibo/Fadah, Alhaji Babakura Dikwama, urged the displaced members of Gajibo community to trust one another, promote peaceful coexistence, support government efforts in security, and show generosity to one another whenever they safely returned and resettled back in their ancestral hometown. Saying “The good people of Gajibo community are well known for their courage, peace-loving and law-abiding”.

Dignitaries in attendance praised the community’s joint effort in organizing the special prayer session ahead of their potential resettlement which will pave way for other displaced communities to support the resettlement efforts of the Borno State government through supplications.

The congregation also prayed for the State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum to succeed in his efforts and commitments to resettle displaced communities, and to restore sustainable peace, security and stability to Borno state.

The session concluded with prayers for peace to reign not only in Dikwa LGA of Borno State but Nigeria as a whole.
