The executive secretbary National Board for technical education Prof. Idris Mohammed Bugaje, has explained that funding polytechnics education can give a sense of reasoning and development in the country.
The executive Secretary National Board for technical education prof. Idris Bugaje revealed this to journalists in an interview after commissioning of NBTE research development and Innovation exhibition hall in Kaduna.
It can really make impact in the Nigerian economy, especially if Nigerian system can recognised polytechnics
“The point we are raising is that world should value, Nigeria should value the polytechnics in research and development and give us more funding, the private sector to collaborate with us because the door will be opened so that private sector can come to the NBTE and joined hands together with an intention to take vocational education to the next level.
“We are going to see what polytechnics are able to produce that is why we sets and commissioned this Innovation Exhibition hall with an intention to update and upgrade it every year with what is coming out from our polytechnics, so that they can be giving a profer place”.
Bugaje further said other relevant stake holder can come to NBTE and see what polytechnics are able to produce
In this regard we are appealing to Government and private sectors that we have a workable system on Innovations let’s comes together with polytechnics worked together and move our country forward, the issue of funding now we are inviting the Dangote group, BUA, private companies all over the country and several others to come to our own inventions not importation from some where, we even be making foreign exchange for the nation because the more we commercialised our products “.
For example the 3D printer that we are bringing from out side Nigeria “we are doing it in Kaduna polytechnic even thore…the diamention may look smaller but it has the capacity to expand it for bigger for a large scale three diamentinal products, we can even build houses with 3D printer we just put the memory of the designed of 3D printer it can build tha house for you, that is why we are appealing with all private sector to collaborate with kaduna polytechnic for better Nigeria by building and producing the products that can called Nigerians”.
In some countries like Corea there is LG products in China there is Samsung all are being used all over the world, go to Germany they have Mesdes together with several others.
Then what is the Nigeria contribution to the global village? So this are the products that we can developmed further because the journey of a one thousand miles is starting with one step so we have confident with our polytechnics.
In the exhibition hall there are some products that was produced in Nigeria from Kaduna,Auchi, Delta, Mubi, Kwara, Ibadan polytechnics.
And some. of the products include a 3D printer, Rice husk Gasifier stove, Fabricated of the protective helmet from waste Cow horn fibre, a Chicken De – Feathering Machine and Serpentine Solar Water Heater and several others we counted in the Exhibition hall are 19 made in Nigeria products
