FRSC to Revoke Licenses of Recalcitrant Drivers: New Measures Announced

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced its intention to revoke the driver’s licenses of recalcitrant drivers in a bid to enhance road safety across Nigeria.

The FRSC boss emphasized the Corps’ robust engagement with the leadership of various Transport Unions and Security Agencies to tackle the growing issue of road safety violations.

The Corps Marshal highlighted the increasing need for collective participation and collaboration among all stakeholders to achieve significant milestones in road safety.

He outlined several key activities aimed at curbing the excesses of reckless drivers, particularly trailer operators.

Among these initiatives is the strengthened Inter-agency Joint Task Force (JTF) focused on mitigating the misuse of trailers for conveying human beings.

The FRSC has also ramped up aggressive public enlightenment campaigns, robust media engagements, and advocacy efforts in motor parks nationwide.

Additionally, strategic routes across the country have been identified and mapped, with appropriate personnel and logistics deployed to ensure effective coverage.

The FRSC’s engagement extends to State Traffic Management Agencies and the FCT Department of Road Traffic Services, ensuring that every stakeholder plays a vital role in promoting highway safety.

In a bid to reinforce compliance with traffic regulations, the FRSC has commenced prosecuting recalcitrant drivers through Mobile Court operations in all 36 states and the FCT.

The Corps Marshal warned that more drastic measures, including the suspension and withdrawal of national driver’s licenses, will follow.
