The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) RS1.3 Command, Katsina, on Friday, 14th November 2025, took its advocacy beyond the highways and into the heart of the community as officers stormed Sokoto Rima Mosque for a special Jummu’at sensitisation marking the 2025 World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Crash (RTC) Victims.
With this year’s global theme, “Lost Talent,” the Corps used the solemn prayer gathering to highlight the tragic human cost of road crashes—promising futures cut short, dreams unfulfilled, and communities robbed of their brightest hopes.
Led by Deputy Corps Commander (Operations) Yakubu Maina, the FRSC delegation included the Sector Head of Operations, Principal Staff Officers, Special Marshals, and members of the NYSC Road Safety Club. The team joined worshippers for the Friday prayer and later delivered a focused enlightenment message on the dangers posed by human behavioural infractions.
Maina cautioned congregants on speeding, dangerous overtaking, wrong parking, distraction, and other common violations responsible for the majority of crashes nationwide. He emphasised that preventing avoidable deaths begins with discipline and responsible road use.
“Every life lost on the road is a lost talent—someone’s child, leader, or breadwinner,” he told the worshippers, urging them to embrace a safety-first culture.
The Chief Imam of Sokoto Rima Mosque welcomed the Corps’ presence, commending FRSC for choosing a worship centre as a platform for life-saving advocacy. He offered special prayers for RTC victims—both survivors and those who lost their lives—and pledged to continue amplifying the message within the community.
Across the state, FRSC formations simultaneously held similar prayer sessions, creating a unified spiritual and safety-awareness front in remembrance of countless road crash victims.
As the week-long activities continue, the Corps reaffirmed its commitment to reducing preventable deaths and ensuring that the “talents” Nigeria loses daily on the roads become a thing of the past.
