Stakeholders have called for intensified efforts toward reducing road accidents and stricter enforcement of traffic laws across Katsina State.
This formed part of the deliberations at a Town Hall Meeting on the 2025 Ember Months Sensitization Campaign, organized by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Katsina State Command, held at the State Secretariat Conference Hall.
The event, which brought together representatives from government agencies, trade unions, security organizations, and religious bodies, focused on strategies to sustain the declining rate of road crashes and promote safer driving habits.
Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, represented by the Director-General of KASROTA, Major Garba Yahaya Rimi (rtd.), commended the FRSC for its foresight, describing the campaign as aligned with the state’s vision of building a safer Katsina. He reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting the FRSC and other security agencies in ensuring zero tolerance for road accidents.
In his welcome address, Sector Commander Maxwell Kaltungu Lede disclosed that Katsina recorded a remarkable 39% decrease in road accidents between January and October 2025—down to 70 cases compared to 114 within the same period in 2024.
He said the meeting was aimed at providing a platform for critical stakeholders to share ideas on sustaining the progress and achieving further reductions in road crashes.
In their goodwill messages, representatives of security agencies, religious groups, and transport unions such as NURTW and NATO lauded the FRSC initiative, describing it as timely and essential ahead of the year-end rush.
They emphasized the need for attitudinal change among motorists and road users, urging continuous public enlightenment and stronger community partnerships to ensure safer roads during and beyond the Ember Months.
