The Katsina State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has partnered with the State Ministry of Environment in a bold step to tackle climate change through a massive tree-planting initiative.
The collaboration, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13 on Climate Action, aims to combat desertification, promote biodiversity, and build a greener Katsina.
As part of the exercise, the FRSC received 580 seedlings worth ₦750,000, including cashew, guava, mango, dates, moringa, eucalyptus, and other species. The seedlings were planted at the Corps’ new office complex along Dutsinma Road, under the supervision of forestry experts.
Sector Commander highlighted that the project serves a dual purpose—supporting state policies on climate resilience while also protecting FRSC operations from the adverse impacts of extreme weather conditions.
The partnership underscores FRSC’s commitment to environmental sustainability and reaffirms its role beyond road safety, contributing to the fight against global climate change.
