…Emir Usman Decries Moral Decay, Pledges Full Support for Road Safety Corps

KATSINA — In a demonstration of respect for traditional authority and a bid to deepen community engagement, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in Katsina State, Corps Commander Maxwell Kaltungo Lede, paid a courtesy and familiarization visit to His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dr. Abdulmumini Kabir Usman CFR, LLD, Emir of Katsina and Chairman of the Katsina State Council of Chiefs, on Wednesday, June 18th, 2025.

The Sector Commander was warmly received at the royal palace, where he humbly sought the Emir’s blessings and emphasized the need for collaboration between the FRSC and traditional institutions to promote responsible driving and enhance public safety across the state.

Highlighting the significance of the Corps’ mission, Commander Lede noted, “Our traditional institutions are critical partners in the campaign for safer roads and disciplined motoring culture. I am here to connect with the custodian of our values and to request royal guidance for effective service delivery.”

In his remarks, His Royal Highness praised the FRSC’s contributions to national security, especially through innovations like the National Drivers Licence and the National Vehicle Identification Scheme. However, the Emir expressed deep concern over the growing moral decay among youths, particularly those engaged in drug abuse and reckless driving, noting the disturbing behavior of many Okada riders, tricycle operators, and vehicle drivers.

“Late-night and early-morning movements by riders are increasingly linked to criminality,” the Emir warned. “This calls for concerted institutional efforts to address moral decadence and instill discipline, especially among young drivers.”

Emir Usman assured the FRSC of his unwavering support across the state and urged the new Sector Commander to carry out his duties with diligence, integrity, enthusiasm, and fear of God.

The visit not only strengthened the bond between the FRSC and the Katsina Emirate but also opened doors for collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing road safety and restoring societal values.
