Postponed the funeral of prominent Kano-born business tycoon, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, to Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, confirmed the development in an interview with the BBC, attributing the delay to the late arrival of the deceased’s body in the Holy City of Medina, Saudi Arabia.
“The Janazah will now hold on Tuesday due to logistical delays in transporting the body to Medina,” the Minister stated.
Alhaji Aminu Dantata, a revered philanthropist and patriarch of the Dantata family, had reportedly wished to be buried in the sacred grounds of Madinah — a request the Saudi authorities granted.
The government had earlier dispatched a high-level delegation to Saudi Arabia ahead of the burial. The team includes the Ministers of Defence, Justice, and Information.
Condolences continue to pour in from across the world, as Nigerians await the final rites of one of the country’s most influential business figures.
