Federal Polytechnic Daura in Katsina State is preparing to award National Diplomas ND to 408 students during its second convocation ceremony scheduled for Saturday.
This was disclosed by the institution’s pioneer Rector, Professor Aliyu Mamman, during a media briefing held Friday evening.
The graduating class spans 11 different academic departments and programmes, reflecting the institution’s consistent advancement in technical and vocational education.
In a significant announcement, Professor Mamman revealed that the polytechnic has secured a N750 million intervention fund from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund). Of this amount, N350 million will be dedicated to skills acquisition initiatives, while the remaining N400 million is allocated for the enhancement of technical and laboratory facilities.
He noted that eight laboratories are now equipped with solar power, ensuring continuous practical sessions even in the face of power outages. He praised TETFund for its continued investment in the institution’s infrastructure and growth.
The rector further announced that the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has approved 11 new Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes, representing a major stride in expanding academic offerings and addressing regional educational demands.
The dual highlights—the graduation of 408 students and the acquisition of major development funding—underscore Federal Polytechnic Daura’s growing reputation as a leading center for technical and vocational training in northern Nigeria.
