…NEMA DG Zubaida Umar Delivers Relief Materials to Six LGAs Affected by Insecurity
In a bold display of federal commitment to victims of armed banditry and displacement, the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Zubaida Umar, on Tuesday, July 23, 2025, officially handed over emergency relief materials to the Katsina State Government for distribution across six severely affected Local Government Areas.
Representing the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, Umar flagged off the distribution in a ceremony aimed at cushioning the devastating impact of recent security breaches in Musawa, Kurfi, Safana, Bakori, Sabuwa, and Kankara LGAs.
“Katsina State has faced serious security challenges over the years,” Umar said during her speech. “But the resilience and resolve of its people remain a beacon of hope. Today’s intervention reflects our collective commitment to alleviating suffering and building a more secure and resilient future.”
The relief package includes: 550 bags of rice (25kg), 550 bags of maize (25kg), 250 cartons of spaghetti, 50 cartons of tomato paste, 50 cartons of vegetable oil and 20 bags of iodized salt.
Umar commended Governor Dikko Umar Radda for his proactive disaster response efforts and affirmed NEMA’s readiness to continue collaborating with the state to enhance disaster management capacity.
This intervention follows a series of previous supports from NEMA and marks a renewed phase of partnership aimed at not only providing immediate aid but also rebuilding livelihoods.
“As we hand over these relief items, we are not just responding to a crisis—we are reinforcing hope,” Umar concluded.
The distributed materials are expected to reach thousands of displaced and vulnerable residents as Katsina battles to restore peace and rebuild its affected communities.
