FCT Court Summons Dino Melaye Over Unpaid N500m Tax

Katsina state government

A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court has summoned Senator Dino Melaye to appear before it over allegations of failing to pay more than ₦500 million in mandatory Personal Income Tax for the years 2023 and 2024.

Court documents show that the former Kogi West lawmaker is accused of defaulting despite repeated notifications from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). The suit seeks to compel Melaye to settle the outstanding liabilities or face further legal sanctions.

The case, which has now drawn wide public attention, places the flamboyant politician back in the spotlight, this time not for his trademark political theatrics, but for a looming tax battle that could have significant financial and legal consequences.

The matter has been slated for hearing, with the court warning that failure to appear may result in stronger enforcement actions.
