Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has launched the 4th Circle of the KT-CARES Programme, channeling over N3.9 billion into initiatives aimed at uplifting communities, empowering farmers, and supporting small businesses.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held at the Malumfashi Township Stadium, Governor Radda announced that 65 communities will receive grants ranging from N2 million to N11 million to execute community-driven development projects. Additionally, 3,600 vulnerable individuals and households will benefit from livelihood grants through debit cards, while 4,095 small businesses will receive entrepreneurial support between N100,000 and N500,000.
Farmers are not left out, as 19,068 beneficiaries will receive agricultural inputs and assets, including day-old chicks, fish fingerlings, power tillers, and solar water pumps.
Governor Radda emphasized that these interventions align with his administration’s “Building Your Future Blueprint,” which prioritizes inclusive governance and grassroots engagement. “We recognize the power of the people, not only at the polling unit but in their capacity to think and act for themselves,” he remarked.
The KT-CARES initiative has already recorded significant successes, with N9.2 billion disbursed across its first three circles. These efforts have supported over 1.9 million citizens in 160 communities and provided agricultural inputs to 23,800 farmers.
Commending the Governor’s leadership, Alhaji Bello H. Kagara, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, noted that Katsina had risen from being ranked last in NG-CARES implementation to setting a national standard.
The event was attended by members of the State Executive Council and thousands of beneficiaries, who expressed gratitude for the impactful programme. Governor Radda assured them of continued monitoring to ensure the benefits reach all intended recipients.
