Farmer urges Gov Radda to revive cotton, groundnut farming

A farmer, Alhaji Sale Abdu Kafur, has lauded Gov. Dikko Radda’s foresight on reviving agriculture emphasising the need to focus on cotton and groundnut cultivation in Katsina state.

Abdu Kafur made the suggestion in an interview with ABC News on Wednesday in Kafur local government area.

He said the livestock farming, reviving agricultural extension services, provision of machineries and inputs served as stimulators for increased investment and participation into agricultural activities in the state.

According to him, small animals rearing schemes for women at the grassroots and other initiatives become a source of income and food security to citizens.

He urged Gov. Radda to focus on improving cotton and groundnut farming in order rejuvenate economic activities in the state.

The farmer expressed satisfaction on Radda’s style of leadership stressing that revamping cotton and groundnut farming would surely revive states economic activities.

He said the efforts could be achieve through providing improve seedlings, farming supports and other value chain initiatives which would impacts positivity on youth and women empowerment, reviving agro allied industries and government obtain enhanced revenue generation.

Abdu Kafur added that the state has good records cotton farming where ginning and textile industries compete which state accrues revenue from the sector.
