The Zaid bin Thabit Centre for Qur’ani and Islamic Studies have came alive on Saturday with joy and gratitude as the institution held it’s Walimatul Qur’ani, celebrating the graduation of students who completed their Qur’anic studies.
The ceremony, held at the school premises in Sokoto, marked a major milestone in the history of the centre, as 62 students successfully completed Qur’anic recitation , alongside two full Hafiz,(Qur’ani memorisation).
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Dr. Musa Isah Yusuf, expressed deep satisfaction over the achievement, describing it as a significant success not only for the school but for Islam at large.
“This achievement is a great milestone for us as a school and a contribution to the growth of Islam in general,” he said, adding that the success reflects years of dedication and commitment.
In his goodwill message, the Proprietor and Head of the School, Kabiru Umar Imam, appreciated the presence of distinguished guests who honoured the occasion with their attendance.
He gave a brief historical background of the institution, noting that the school was established in 2011 with just 32 students and two teachers.
According to him, the school has grown under the leadership of different management committees.
He recalled that Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji served as the first chairman, followed by Dr. Hassan Ibn Attahir, then Prof. Ahmad Faruk, and later Prof. Abdullahi Mainasara. The institution is currently under the leadership of Dr. Musa Isah Yusuf.
Kabiru Umar Imam attributed the school’s progress to the resilience and dedication of its management committees, adding that one of the recent achievements of the centre is its plan to commence the construction of a large Qur’anic memorisation complex.
The Sokoto State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Associate Professor Jabir Sani Mai Hula, was represented at the event by Director Alhaji Lawal.
In his remarks, the representative acknowledged the challenges facing the school and assured the management that the issues would be communicated to the appropriate authorities.
“By the will of Allah, these challenges will reach the ears of the state government, including the Governor, so that solutions can be found,” he stated.
Also speaking at the event, Dr. Abdullahi Sani Jos commended the teachers of the centre for their commitment and dedication.
He stressed the importance of combining Qur’anic education with Western education, noting that students who memorise the Qur’an often excel academically.
“Even in Western education, a student who has memorised the Qur’an stands out because learning becomes easier for them,” he explained.
During an interview, the Amir of the school, Ahmad Murtala Hanafi, expressed gratitude to Allah for the success of the Walima, describing the graduation of Hafiz students as a moment of pride for the institution.
One of the graduating students, Abdullahi Murtala Hanafi, also shared his joy, thanking Allah for allowing him to witness the day.
“This is a day that has made my parents and neighbours proud. I pray that Allah, who allowed us to witness this Walima, will also grant us success in fully memorising the Qur’an,” he said.
The Walimatul Qur’ani ended with prayers for the graduates, the school, and the continued growth of Islamic education in the society
