There has been an explosion at a metal scrap factory at Mariri along the Kano to Maiduguri Road.
Kano Police confirmed the death of five persons and many receiving treatment at a hospital in state.
According to the Police the incident occurred when a team of labourers were offloading metal scrap from a truck said to have been brought from Damaturu, Yobe state.
The Police personnel who responded on time evacuated the victims to the hospital.
Kano state commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, who visited the scene of the incident in mufti, directed the immediate sealing off of the site by the Bomb disposal unit of the Command to avert further explosion.
