EL-RUFAI IN COURT, EYES ADC CONVENTION

Borno State Government

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, on Monday stormed the Kaduna State High Court as his trial over alleged corruption charges resumed, even as he hinted at active involvement in party politics.

El-Rufai, who is being prosecuted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission alongside Amadu Sule, faces allegations ranging from abuse of office to fraud and conferring undue advantage.

In a moment that caught attention before proceedings began, the former governor was overheard discussing the upcoming convention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), asking an associate, “So tomorrow is our convention, right?”—a sign he remains politically active despite his legal battle.

The courtroom appearance comes amid mounting legal pressure, as El-Rufai is also facing a separate 10-count charge at the Federal High Court over alleged money laundering and fraud involving N579.6 million and $1.1 million.

A bail hearing in that case has been fixed for April 14.
Proceedings continue.
