A night of fine dining at the Abuja Intercontinental Hotel, Wuse Zone 4, turned tragic on Friday when an Egyptian national suddenly slumped and died.

The deceased, identified as Mohammed Saleh, 56, was said to be having dinner with three companions when he collapsed around 9:24 p.m. Hotel Security Supervisor, Francis Yusuf, quickly alerted the Wuse Police Division.

Saleh was first rushed to Kings Care Hospital, Wuse Zone 4, before being referred to the Wuse District Hospital, where doctors confirmed him dead.

Police sources told Abc News that the body has since been deposited at the hospital morgue for a possible autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Meanwhile, investigators from the FCT Police Command have launched an inquiry into the incident, with officers expected to take statements from witnesses and hotel staff.

The Abuja Intercontinental Hotel, one of the capital city’s most frequented hospitality spots, has yet to issue an official statement, but staff described the atmosphere on Friday night as “somber and tense” following the sudden death.

Authorities assured that findings from the autopsy and police investigation would be made public in due course.
