The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC has uncovered what appears to be a full-fledged cybercrime academy, arresting 30 suspected internet fraudsters—many of them students—during a sting operation at a so-called ‘Yahoo Training School’ in Edo State.

Acting on credible intelligence, operatives from the Benin Zonal Command stormed the location believed to be a training hub for online scams, seizing laptops, mobile phones, and other digital tools allegedly used for fraudulent activities.

A statement from the EFCC revealed that the suspects were undergoing intensive “training” in cybercrime techniques when the raid occurred.

“This is not just a crime scene—it was a classroom for fraud,” an EFCC official stated.

The suspects are currently undergoing profiling and interrogation. Upon conclusion of investigations, they are expected to be charged to court.

The Commission has reiterated its warning to youths against embracing cybercrime, vowing to dismantle all criminal networks and their training grounds.
