EFCC Smashes Internet Fraud Ring in Yobe, 42 Suspects Nabbed in Gashua

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Maiduguri Zonal Directorate, have arrested 42 suspected internet fraudsters in Gashua, Yobe State.

The suspects were rounded up in a sting operation on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, across different hideouts in the local government area, following credible intelligence on their alleged involvement in cybercrime.

Recovered items include seven motorcycles, a Mercedes Benz car, 55 phones and laptops, as well as PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles.

According to the EFCC, preliminary intelligence linked the suspects to various forms of internet fraud. They will be arraigned in court once investigations are completed.
