The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been warned against giving it’s ticket for the vacant position of Ovia Federal Constituency in Edo State to any aspirant who supported former governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki, against the revered Benin Kingdom.
The leadership of Benin United Forum (BUF), in a statement jointly signed Mr. Iyamu Osaro, President, and Mr. Osayuki-Osa Benson, Secretary General, urged the party leadership in Ovia South West and Ovia Mort East Local Government Areas to jettison any plan to support the son or daughter of enemy of Benin Kingdom as a candidate.
“If APC hope to retain the vacant position of Ovia Fed Constituency for the party, we state therefore, that any attempt, or calculated or attempted to undermine our position will be viewed as APC only rode on the sacrilegious acts/ plots that Obaseki orchestrated against Benin Kingdom to get into power in Edo State which will signal a wrong move,” the statement reads in part.
It added: “In as much as we have no personal or individual grudges against anyone who aspire for elective position, this letter is in affirmation that, our position has not changed, but against the enemies of Benin Kingdom.”
The group maintained that it would not endorse its blacklisted person, whether or not such aspirant had changed political party or an old member within the APC aspirants.
