The Department of State Services (DSS) has recorded another major breakthrough in its fight against terrorism with the arrest of a suspected key arms manufacturer and supplier, Musa Abubakar, in Plateau State.
Abubakar, believed to be a critical link in the deadly chain of weapons circulating among violent groups in Plateau and other northern states, was arrested on November 12, 2025, following what security insiders described as “precise and actionable intelligence.”
According to a DSS source, the suspect has confessed to producing and distributing high-caliber firearms and ammunition to armed groups responsible for repeated violent attacks across the region.
His arrest came during a targeted raid on his clandestine workshop located in the Mista Ali area of Bassa Local Government Area, where operatives reportedly caught him red-handed with a cache of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) components, chemicals, and specialized equipment. All items were immediately confiscated.
This latest operation comes on the heels of the recapture of notorious terror suspect Abdulazeez Obadaki, popularly known as Bomboy, a Kuje Prison escapee linked to the Owo and Deeper Life Church attacks.
Security analysts say the string of arrests reinforces the DSS’s renewed resolve to dismantle terror supply chains and neutralize high-profile threats nationwide.
Only recently, the agency announced the arrest of nine major suspects involved in attacks across Plateau and Benue States. Among them is Timna Manjol (46) of First Baptist Church, Mangu LGA, who has already pleaded guilty to two of four charges, including illegal firearms possession, in case number FHC/ABJ/CR/451/2025.
With the apprehension of Abubakar, the DSS believes it has cut off a vital conduit feeding weapons into the region’s violence—marking yet another decisive step in its mission to safeguard national security.
